Book 25 of 80

April 19, 2010

We’re moving south toward Senegal.

Amateur Reader over at wutheringexpectations.blogspot.com has an AWESOME Senegalese reading list.

After looking over the list, I decided to go with God’s Bits of Wood by Sembene Ousmane. Amateur Reader said it is a masterpiece and a co-worker echoed that sentiment. This book  is about the railway workers strike in Senegal in 1947-1948. It is described as a vivid and moving novel. I’m excited to read this — I do love emotional historical fiction.

This book is totally not something I would just pick up on my own prior to this challenge. Discovering new books and new authors makes me giddy! I can’t wait to delve into this story.

So, what is everyone else reading?
